CIRS will speak at the upcoming chemical industries regulations (CIR) conference about the latest developments of chemical management policies in China

29 August, CIRS will participate in the upcoming chemical industries regulations (CIR) conference held in Barcelona on 6th September 2011. Ms Louise Halpin will provide a briefing on the latest developments of chemical management policies in China. The following topics will be covered:
  • Overview of chemical management policies in China;
  • New chemical substance notification for general chemicals, polymers and new chemicals used as cosmetic ingredient;
  • Existing chemical management policies for hazardous chemicals and restricted toxic chemicals to be imported/exported;
  • GHS implementation in China: current status and challenges;
  • Updates about the regulations on safe management of hazardous chemicals and new Catalog of Hazardous Chemicals;
  • Practical advice for companies involved in the import/export of chemicals with China

Operations Manager at Chemical Inspection and Regulations Services Limited responsible for project management for a large range of international clients, especially for projects involving regulatory consultation on EU REACH, CLP, China REACH and Hazardous substances screening/data management. On a daily basis she provides advise to clients on the best REACH registration strategies encompassing all of their specific trade requirements. She is a technical specialist for EU REACH  and CLP and an expert in IUCLID 5 dossier preparation and associated technical data collection.

She has been awarded an Honours degree in Medicinal Chemistry from Trinity College Dublin and an Honours Postgraduate Diploma in Education. As a regular attendee at Health and Safety Authority events, ECHA Stakeholders days and Irish Medicine Board meetings she consistently monitors the latest updates on regulatory issues concerning the chemical and associated industries. Ms. Halpin is also involved in CIRS business development and new ventures. Prior to joining CIRS, she acted as the chief Environmental fate specialist for an international consultancy company for Biocides and Pesticides where she was responsible for  conducting various environmental risk assessments and preparing relevant dossiers for submission to the EU, under Directives 91/414/EEC and 98/8/EEC.
